Executive Council
 
  1. The affairs of the Institution shall be managed by an Executive Council comprising of a President, the Immediate Past President, Three Vice-Presidents, the General Secretary, the Joint Secretary, the Treasurer, ten members (to be elected in accordance wit Bye-low No. 40 from amongst the eligible voting members) and the chairman or a representative of each Branch of the Institution.
  2. Notwithstanding the Provisions o Article No.16, as a special case , the Graduate Members of the Institution shall be entitled to full voting rights and be elected as members of the council not exceeding 50% of the strength of the council and hold any office of the Institution.
  3. If any member of the council shall become bankrupt or insolvent or compound with his creditors or become of unsound mind or be convicted of an indictable offence or shall be writing resign his office or shall for any cause cease to be a member of the Institution, he shall ipso facto and immediately cease to be a member of the Council.
  4. The President shall automatically transfer to the office of immediate Past President on completion of one year in office as President, unless he is re-elected as President. The immediate past president shall continue in office if te President is re-elected.
  5. If the President is not  re-elected for the second term, the Immediate Past President shall retire from the council . No person shall hold the office of the President for more than two consecutive terms.
  6. Five members o the Council (one third strength of the council ) shall retire every  year, but they can be re-elected to the council. The retiring members shall be those who have been longest in office.
  7. Upto three members f any class may be co-opted by the council; provided that such co-opted members shall retire at the end of the year. The Council may also co-opt any persons who are not members of the Institution provided that such co-opted members shall not be entitled to vote at any meeting of the Council or the General Body of the  Institution.
  8. The appointment of the President and Vice Presidents shall be made by the Council by election/selection. The ordinary members of the Council shall be elected in accordance with Bye-law No. 40 as provided by these articles. Unless otherwise determined by the Council, the General Secretary and the Treasurer shall be nominated, elected, selected or appointed by  he council from amongst the members serving on the council.
  9. A member on the council absenting himself without leave for three consecutive meetings shall cease to be a member of the council  unless the reasons of his absence have been  communicated to the General Secretary and the Council is satisfied with such reasons.
  10. Vacancies on the Council not filled up at an Annual General Body Meeting and vacancies occurring on the Council between two elections shall be filled or co-opted by the Council within two months of such occurrence.
  11. The Council shall determine and prescribe the powers and duties of the Officers of the Institution, except where there are any express provisions in the Bye-Laws in force as provided by these Articles. The duties of the General Secretary and Treasurer may be discharged by the same person.
